boldings report

Boldings report    27-1-16.

Tony Foster [PI Boldings] kept his run of successes at Boldings Pools going by following up his Saturday win of last week with another victory on Monday this week.

Drawn on peg 18 on the Ash Pool he alternated close in tactics with working the 12 metre pole for a 52-14-0 haul of carp to 5lbs.

Chris Holmes [Middle Severn Angling] plumped for maggot feeder at peg 7 on the opposite side of the pool and netted 41-9-0 to fill second place. Mick Jameson [PI Bold] had 33-13-0 for third at peg 9 and over on peg 16 25-9-0 put Dave Matson [Rod & Gun] into fourth.

The temperature plunged to minus five degrees on Wednesday but Jeff Harston [Weston Pools] still managed a respectable weight of 42-8-0 to win from Stock peg 3. Maggot at 13 metres found carp to 4lbs and skimmers to 1lb willing to 'have a go'.

Last week's winner Joe Brennan [PI Bold] led the way on the Hawthorn to collect the runner up cash pot. Joe worked to the island and in the channel with maggot to register 27-4-0 of carp to 3lbs. Mick Jameson was third again, his 18-2-0 coming from Stock peg 11, to just beat the 17-14-0 by Steve Owen [Monkhall] at Hawthorn 11.

Thursday saw a tight frame with only three and a half pounds covering the top four.

John Benjamin [Kings] edged home from peg 14 on the Ash, helped in no small measure by a carp of 12lbs which pushed his total to a level 43-0-0, a catch which came to maggot, worked at 12 metres and in the side.

Dave Brown [Maver] rotated offering maggot at 4, 8 12 and 16 metres to stay in contact with the F1s to 5lbs at peg 15 on the Chestnut, but fell one fish short to finish on 42-0-0. Steve Owen was in the list again, finishing just behind second on 40-11-0 at Ash peg 6, and tight behind Steve was Ken Humphreys [Oswestry] with 39-8-0 from Chestnut 32.

Saturday saw the Sycamore produce the top weight of the week when Simon Mottram [Drennan NW/ABC] drew peg 48 and made a haul of carp to 5lbs and barbel to 4lbs using maggot at 12 metres. At the end of the day "Motty" had 71-9-0 in his net, which was too good for Dave Brown [Maver].

Dave led the way on the Willows Pool by alternating 13 metre pole with long range waggler tactics, and like the winner, included carp to 5lbs with barbel to 4lbs in a net of 64-2-0. A Chestnut best of 53-3-0 from peg 32 gave third to Andy Price [Oakengates Ang Cent] and Ken Humphreys picked another close fourth by scaling 52-7-0 at Chestnut 7.

Victory fell to Steve Hall [Oswestry] on Sunday by courtesy of a mix of carp to 6lbs and bream to 2lbs, which Steve took on maggot, fished to the paddles, and at 13 metres from peg 10 on the Chestnut. His 67-1-0 prevented a week end double for Simon Mottram who was one fish behind on the day with his 64-11-0 of carp and barbel from Sycamore peg 1. A level 56-0-0 from Sycamore 49 gave third to Gary Morris [PI Bold] and Mick Jameson was in the prizes again, picking up fourth with 46-14-0 from Chestnut 13.
