Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  28-8-13.

Mick Jameson [PI Boldings] kicked off the new match programme at Boldings with the top weight of the week to win the Monday open. Peg 5 on the Beech Pool provided a mix of carp to 8lbs with bream to 2lbs which combined to give a total of 131-8-0. Mick caught on pellet, on the 5 metre line, alternated with margin fishing.

Just round on the point at peg 7 Josh Humphreys [ABC] worked pellet and maggot to each side of the point to tempt carp to 9lbs to finish just short of the ton on 99-7-0 to fill second spot. On the Ash Pool Phil Shaw [Lower Hill] fell exactly two pounds short of second when he weighed 97-7-0, and at peg 5 on the Ash Mitch Davidson [Colmic] had 76-3-0 in 4th.

Weights dipped on Wednesday on the Sycamore and 72-3-0 from peg 36 handed victory to PI Boldings rod Graham Roberts, who fished down the side with maggot and at 5 metres with pellet to find carp to 7lbs.

Josh Humphreys picked up another second thanks to 67-1-0 from peg 39. He had carp to 7lbs and barbel to 3lbs on close in maggot. Harry Colley [PI Bold] netted 58-14-0 from peg 47 to finish third ahead of Bob Tromans [Fiery Holes] on 56-3-0 at peg 30.

Gareth Emlyn [Oakengates Ang Cent] was involved in a close battle with fellow Oakengates rod Matt Stobbs on Thursday when they both drew on the Willows Pool and both caught carp and barbel. Gareth drew peg 9 and fished along the side of the small peninsula, offering maggot to tempt carp to 7lbs and barbel to 3lbs to put together 127-1-0.

Over at peg 18 Matt switched between shallow pellet in open water and maggot in the edge, and had more fish than Gareth, but they were a bit smaller, running to 6lbs for the carp and 2lbs for the barbel, giving a total of 126-9-0.

Dave Matson [Rod & Gun] had top weight from the Chestnut, 115-12-0 from peg 32 to fill third overall with Andy Williams [Colmic Vespe] just behind on 114-11-0 at Willows peg 19.

Sycamore peg 24 threw up a winner on Saturday to add another to the list of Matrix TA man Colin Wozek. Pellet, fished shallow, and down the edge had carp to 8lbs and barbel to 3lbs homing in  to give figures of 118-11-0.

On the point at peg 13, corn and pellet, offered to each side put 97-0-0 of carp to 7lbs in the net of Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] to give him second. On the other point, peg 8, Harry Colley had 96-15-0 to collect another third, and Mick Jameson was close behind on 95-13-0 at peg 50 to frame again.

Andy Williams swapped his mid-week 4th for a first on Sunday when an all carp 97-2-0 put him at the top of the card. Pegged on Oak 8 Andy fished maggot and corn to each side for carp to 8lbs. On the other side of the pool at peg 29Scott Doodson [Preston Innov] had carp and barbel on maggot to finish a close second on 95-14-0.

At peg 30 Shane Rogers [Oak Ang Cent] scaled 70-11-0 to pick up third and over at peg `18 60-14-0 gave 4th to John Wild [Stafford].

Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  20-8-13.

Keith Powell [PI Boldings] picked up a win at the Monday open at Boldings Pools, scoring from peg 5 on the Beech Pool. Carp and bream responded to his close in maggot approach, with samples to 8lbs and 2lbs respectively giving a final tally of 127-7-0.

Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] put the same bait and tactics to work at Beech 32, but found the carp ran a little smaller at 6lbs apiece, leaving him short of the winner on 109-1-0.

The remain places were closely contested between Steve Woodhall [Oakengates Ang Cent] and Josh Humphreys [ABC] with Steve just getting third with 90-7-0 at peg 8, three ounces ahead of Josh on 90-4-0 at peg 13.

Colin Wozek [Matrix Total Angling] had top weight of the day to win on Wednesday from Sycamore peg 45. Shallow pellet tactics, combined with fishing into the corner brought carp to 7lbs and barbel to 3lbs to the net for figures of 129-8-0.

At peg 48 Matt Stockton [PI Bold] had all carp to 6lbs to end the day not far behind the winner on 125-12-0 to claim second. Rob Hancox [Swan Elite] took home the third prize by weighing 103-10-0 at Sycamore 8, and Josh Humphreys had another 4th with a Willows best of 98-9-0.

Steve Roberts [Oak Ang Cent] stepped up to the mark on Thursday when he had a mix of carp to 9lbs and barbel to 3lbs close in on maggot at Sycamore 33. They combined to give a weight of 119-1-0 for victory.

Peg 8 featured again, giving second to Kevin Melville [Matrix TA]. He included bream to 4lbs with carp to 7lbs in a corn and maggot based 92-9-0. An Oak Pool best of 85-11-0 from peg 27 gave Gareth Emlyn [Oak Ang Cent] third and 79-7-0 from Sycamore 48 put Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] into 4th.

Dave Matson [Rod & Gun] took on the winners role on Saturday on the Chestnut when maggot was top bait again, but didn’t produce the level of catches the previous frames had shown, with 78-13-0 being enough for a clear win. Dave was on peg 21 and had carp to 6lbs close in.

At peg 28 Colin Reynolds moved up a couple of places on his Thursday showing to fill second spot. He alternated fishing to the island and in the margins, using pellet and corn to include carp to 7lbs with barbel to 3lbs in his 65-12-0 total.

Dave Craggs [Maver Midlands] and Carl Foster [PI Bold] were next to each other on pegs 13 and 15 where they matched each other exactly to share third with 55-4-0 apiece.

The Sycamore Pool hit top form on Sunday to give the best two weights of the week, with point peg 13 being exploited to the tune of 157-1-0 by Steve Roberts to record his second victory of the week. Maggot fished to each side of the point produced barbel and bream to 3lbs to accompany carp to 9lbs in Steve’s net.

At peg 34 Andy Williams [Colmic Vespe] also had bream and barbel to 3lbs, but the carp at his peg ran a little smaller, with fish to 7lbs, giving him a final tally of 134-3-0.

Down at the bottom end of the pool pegs 48 and 50 filled the remaining places with Brian Clarke [Colmic Marukyu] nipping into third ahead of Pete Plant [Maver Midlands]. Brian weighed in 105-10-0 at peg 48 and Pete 103-5-0 in the corner at peg 50.
