Boldings report

Boldings Report 25/8/09.

Kelvin Emlyn (Oakengates Ang Cent) followed up his success in the Little Dawley series by recording top weight of the week at Boldings Pools on Sunday when he headed an all ton weight frame.

Kel was the best of four Telford rods who all beat the 100lbs mark on the day. He was on peg 34 on the Sycamore and worked each side of the peg with corn and pellet to pick off carp to 9lbs and bream to 4lbs. At the scales, they added up to 154-14-0, which put him some way clear of last weeks winner, Shane Rogers (Sonubaits).

Shane was on the Chestnut, and led the way on the pool with 109-10-0 from peg 14. He also included carp and bream in his net, which he caught on corn to each side.

Sean Barber (Maver Sonubaits) was on Chestnut 17 and took third with 105-11-0 and David Emlyn (Oak Ang Cent) completed the impressive frame with 102-8-0 at Sycamore peg 4.

Martyn Travis (MS Total Angling) started the week at Boldings with ton up winner from the Beech Pool when he took the honours on the Monday Affordable open.

Drawn on peg 32 he made his big haul with a corn and pellet approach, netting carp to 9lbs on his way to victory.

Carl Foster (OB Wolves) was top man on the Hawthorn Pool but was some way behind the winner on 79-7-0 at peg 3. Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) is having an extended run, and was in the frame again this week, finishing a close third with 78-1-0 at Beech 16. Back on the Hawthorn, Colin Wozak (Telford) had 71-2-0 at peg 12 to finish 4th.

There was only two ounces between first and second on Wednesday when Mel Kitson (Rod & Gun) just got the verdict over Terry Slater (Baggeridge). Mel bucked the corn and pellet trend to offer paste at peg 7 on the Beech, taking carp to 7lbs from the 4 metre line, and close in to total 80-3-0.

Terry was on peg 36 on the Chestnut and had his 80-1-0 of carp and bream on the favoured corn and pellet combo.

Keith Miller (New Willenhall) wasn’t far off the pace at Beech 18, where he scaled 78-6-0 for third, and last Wednesdays winner Howard Williams (Weston Pools) kept things close with 74-5-0 for 4th this time.

David Emlyn improved on his week-end fourth with a winning performance on Thursday at peg 13 on the Sycamore. Corn and pellet got the better of the paste this time with Dave having 71-14-0 of carp and bream, to finish ahead of the previous days winner Mel Kitson. Mel tried the paste again at Sycamore 33, but had smaller fish than the winner, finishing on 67-3-0. Third went to another Rod & Gun man, Eric Bancroft, who scaled 60-8-0 at peg 36 and Tony Foster (OBW) finished things off with 55-12-0 at peg 27.

Shallow fished pellet at peg 16 on the Ash Pool saw Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonu) through to victory on Saturday, with carp in the 1lb to 4lbs range adding up to 91-2-0.

John Francis (R&G) stuck to corn and pellet at Beech 32 to finish second on 68-7-0. Dave Matson (R&G) had 60-5-0 at Beech 16 for third and Sean Barber framed again with 58-11-0 for 4th at Ash 9.

Boldings report

Boldings Report 18/8/09.

Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) enjoyed a double success at Boldings Pools this week with victories on Monday and Saturday.

On Monday Colin drew peg 1 on the Hawthorn Pool and tackled it with a pellet approach, at 5 metres, alternated with corn close in. Carp to 6lbs responded to give finishing figures of 74-4-0.

Martyn Travis ((MS Total Angling) was on Beech peg 16 and offered maggot and corn close in to pick up carp to 7lbs on his way to 64-15-0 and second place. Harry Colley (OB Wolves) followed up his two Monday wins on the trot with a third place this time, scaling 60-7-0 at Beech 7, and back on the Hawthorn, Carl Foster (OBW) was just behind on 59-6-0 at peg 15.

Peg 23 on the Chestnut provided the Monday winner last week, and this week it came up trumps on Wednesday for Howard Williams (Weston Pools). He ignored the island to fish close in to each side of the peg, and found carp to 7lbs and bream to 2lbs to end on 71-5-0.

Round at Chestnut 15 Alf Taylor fished corn and pellet at 5 metres and close in to net carp to 5lbs for 57-11-0 and second spot. Mick Keene (MSTA) topped the Larch card with 54-14-0 at peg 22 to finish third overall, and Carl Foster was 4th again when he weighed 51-0-0 at Chestnut 10.

Chestnut 16 featured again on Thursday, producing the winner this time when Ed Turner (OBW) put 67-11-0 on the scales. Ed had carp to 5lbs on shallow fished pellet and corn close in.

Chris Holmes (Bridgnorth AS) added to his run with a second placed 63-10-0 at Chestnut 30, his catch of carp to 5lbs coming to shallow pellet.

Third went to Kye Faulkener (Telford) on 53-4-0 at Chestnut 35 and in 4th was Jess Oliver, on holiday from Leeds, with 46-9-0 at peg 23.

Colin Reynolds second win of the week came from the Middle Pool and fell to corn and pellet again, this time fished to the paddles and in the side. Carp to 8lbs added up to 85-13-0, which gave a narrow margin over the 83-9-0 weighed in by Ken Humphries (Morgans Angling) at Middle peg 9. Ken fished pellet and paste at 4 metres, and had carp to 6lbs.

Third went to Lee Atwell (Kingswinford) who had a Hawthorn best of 78-5-0 and a Stock Pool best of 70-12-0 gave Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonubaits) 4th.

Best weight of the week at Boldings came on Sunday when Shane Rogers (Sonubaits) fished corn and pellet to each side of peg 22 on the Sycamore to just beat the ton mark with 101-8-0.

Right opposite the winner, on peg 33 Phil Rhodes used the same tactics but couldn’t match the catch rate, finishing on 84-8-0. Kelvin Emlyn (Oakengates Ang Cent) led the way on the Ash Pool to finish third overall on 72-9-0, and fourth placed Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) included 40lbs of bream to 3lbs in his 69-6-0 at Chestnut 38.

Boldings report

Boldings Report 4/8/09.

Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonubaits) had the top bag of the week at Boldings to win the Saturday open. Fishing pellet, shallow in open water, alternated with corn close in, Andy found carp to 7lbs at peg 33 on the Sycamore to put together a 131-10-0 total.

Graham Roberts (OB Wolves) used corn and pellet at 4 metres and close in at Chestnut peg 13 for a mix of carp and bream for 93-3-0 to take second. Howard Williams (Weston Pools) had 85-10-0 from Sycamore 13 for third and Steve Roberts (Rod & Gun) was 4th from Chestnut 21 where he had 83-6-0.

Harry Colley (OB Wolves) won the Monday open, his second on the trot, this time from the Chestnut, having won from the Beech last week. He was on peg 23 by the island, and found his fish, carp to 7lbs and bream to 3lbs, with pellet and meat, fished into the side. When the scales came, Harry had 83-5-0, which put him some way clear of Gary Morris (OBW) over at Chestnut peg 5. Gary also netted carp and bream, with carp to 5lbs and bream to 3lbs, tempting them close in with paste to scale 65-1-0.

Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) picked up third thanks to 62-1-0 at Chestnut 18 and Darren Smart (Wolverhampton) had 60-5-0 at peg 36 for 4th.

Wednesday saw a very tight frame with only a pound between first and third. Andy Williams (Vespe) sneaked victory when he put 58-11-0 on the scales at Chestnut 21, with a corn fed mix of carp to 5lbs and bream to 2lbs. Runner up Josh Humphries (Morgans) had smaller carp, with samples to 4lbs, with bream to 2lbs, on pellet at Chestnut 17, to finish just short of the winner on 58-6-0.

Round at Chestnut  peg 8 Matt Stobbs (R&G) netted 57-12-0 for a close third and Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) had a Sycamore best of 50-5-0 in 4th.

George Reynolds (Kings Pools) just beat the 100lb mark by one ounce on Saturday, claiming top spot with 100-1-0 at Sycamore peg 24. Georges catch consisted of carp to 8lbs, and came to pellet and paste, fished at 5 metres and close in.

Opposite the winner at peg 33 Terry Slater (Baggeridge) put 76-9-0 on the scales for second, Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) and Bill Kemp (OBW) each had 52-9-0 to share third.
