FAMILIAR FACES IN THE FRAME AGIN AT BOLDINGS.

Telford rod Andy Williams was on song again at Boldings Pools this week, adding two wins to his two runner up spots of last week. Andy opened with a ton winner on Wednesday, beating a trio of Hawthorn Pool weights comfortably with a Beech best of 102-11-0. Corn and maggot, fished in the side had carp from 1lb to 7lbs snapping up the bait.

Best of the three Hawthorn ‘framers’ was John Francis (Rod & Gun) who offered pellet close in and at 5 metres at peg corner 15 to find carp to 6lbs on his way to 71-6-0.

Along at peg 12 Tony Foster (OB Wolves) scaled 60-7-0 in third and diagonally Francis, at peg 7, last weeks double winner Pete Plant (Maver) took 4th with 52-11-0.

The Hawthorn produced the top weight of the week for Paul Ferguson (OB Wolves) on Thursday, and also gave him his first ton weight. Opting for corn at 4 metres at 3, Paul netted carp to 9lbs on his way to 111-15-0.

Peg 15 on the hawthorn came up with the runner up catch for the second day running when Carl Foster (OB Wolves) alternated pellet at 5 metres with corn close in to tempt carp to 8 lbs for a total of 92-3-0. Peg 12 gave third again, this time to Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) who was only just behind Foster on 91-14-0, and not far behind him, on 89-10-0 was Dave Barnard (Maver Wolves) at Hawthorn 9.

The Beech Pool took centre stage at the week-end, providing the top two weights on both Saturday and Sunday. Paul Cartwright (OB Wolves) led the way on Saturday, including a double figure carp in his winning 82-6-0, taken on corn at 5 metres at peg 18.

Carl Foster was second for the second time in two matches. He was on the peninsular, at peg 5, and had 75-11-0 on corn and pellet. John Francis framed again, netting an Ash Pool best 65-0-0 for third overall, and fourth went to a Chestnut best of 56-7-0 from Kev Williams (Wolverhampton).

Andy Williams finished the week in the style he started it, putting in another winning performance on the Beech Pool. This time he drew peg 20, and worked corn, close in for 87-11-0. That gave Andy 20lbs to spare over Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall). He was on the point on the Beech, and combined corn and pellet each side of the point for 67-6-0.

Simon Richardson (Maver) topped the Sycamore with 47-4-0 for third, then it was back to the Beech for 4th placed Ralph Johnson (Bilston Ang Cent) on 41-8-0.

Shropshire Winter League.

Hi.
I have been trying to contact Ed to let him know that his email only gave the Sunday result this week.
I also need to ask if it is possible to alter the winter league booking for 21/10/07 to 25/11/07.
I am guessing that ed and Sue are on holiday. If so can you let me know when they will be back so that I can check on the date change.
All the best.

SPORTS DESK.  5/9/07

It was another good week for Dave Brown (Maver) Tony Foster (OB Wolves) and Andy Williams (Telford at Boldings this week, all making two frame appearances.

Dave Brown started things off with top spot on the Wednesday open, which was held on the back pools. Dave pulled Stock peg 11 from the draw bag, where fishing to the stumps with maggot, saw him netting carp to 8 lbs on his way to 66-10-0.

Tony Foster followed with a middle pool best of 54-13-0 on shallow fished pellet from peg 10, with Andy Williams joining them in third, with 44-7-0 form Stock peg 10, and Carl Foster (OB Wolves) joined brother Tony in the frame by scaling 40-3-0 at peg 4 on the Stock.

Foster and Brown swapped places on Thursday, both hitting the ton. They were on different pools again, with Tony on the Ash this time, and Dave on the Sycamore. Tony went out to 12 metres to fish pellet up in the water at Ash 16, and was kept busy all through the match with carp in the 1lb to 3lb range making up a winning total of 110-3-0.

Dave fished maggot down the shelf, alternated with corn close in at Sycamore 24, and was helped to an even ton (100-0-0) by carp to 9lbs.

Back on the Ash Graham Evason (OB Wolves) netted 59-11-0 at corner peg 9 to beat Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) to third spot. Colin was Ash 7 and finished one fish short on 56-1-0.

Andy Williams saved his best for the Saturday open when he made the top catch of the week. Drawn on form peg 33 on the Sycamore, he went to work with corn and maggot to outstrip the opposition with carp to 9lbs, some from the 5 metre line and some close in to put together 121-11-0.

On the opposite bank, at peg 20, John Francis (Rod & Gun) offered pellet at 4 metres and corn close in for a mix of carp and bream for 71-12-0 to grab second, just ahead of Kev Williams (OB Wolves) on 68-9-0 at Sycamore 24. Carl Foster recorded another 4th with 61-0-0 from Sycamore 48.

Sunday produced a fresh crop of names in the frame and a ton up winner for Dave Craggs (OB Wolves). He was on peg 11 on the Larch and operated with maggot and corn in the margins for carp to 9lbs. When the scales arrived they added up to 111-10-0 and a clear margin over runner up Nigel Ball (Mosella). Nigel was on peg 32 on the Sycamore where similar tactics to those used by Saturdays winner failed to get the fish moving to the same extent, leaving him on 70-1-0 at the finish. Over at Sycamore 2 Dave White (Maver) scaled 52-11-0 to squeeze in front of a Willows best of 51-8-0 from Paul Evans (Storeys).
